Phylogenetic and molecular characterization of coronavirus affecting species of bovine and birds in Cuba

چکیده
Avian infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) and bovine coronavirus (BCoV) are pathogens of veterinary importance that affect birds and bovine in Cuba; however, molecular characteristics and genetic diversity of these viruses are unknown. This study was aimed at determining the molecular characteristics and genetic diversity of both agents, based in the spike S gene. A molecular analysis was carried out from fi eld strains of BCoV collected between 2009 and 2011 and phylogenetic studies were conducted using partial or complete S gene sequences as phylogenetic markers. Besides, studies of phylogenetic inference were carried out in S1 region of recent isolates of IBV. All Cuban bovine coronavirus sequences were located in a single cluster supported by 100 % bootstrap and 1.00 posterior probability values. The Cuban BCoV sequences were also clustered with the USA BCoV strains corresponding to the GenBank accession numbers EF424621 and EF424623, suggesting a common origin for these viruses. This phylogenetic cluster was also the only group of sequences in which no recombination events were detected. Of the 45 amino acid changes found in the Cuban strains, four were unique. On the other hand, two putative genotypes genetically different to the Massachusetts genotype H120 strain used in the Cuban vaccination program were found in the fl ocks assessed. In addition, a potential nephropathogenic IBV isolate was found by fi rst time in Cuba. This research won the 2012 Award of the Cuban National Academy of Sciences.

Molecular Detection of Gamma Coronaviruses in Bird Parks of Iran
Gamma Coronaviruses (GCoVs) are distributed worldwide, affecting a wide range of bird species, the beluga whale, and bottlenose dolphins. Because of the limited proofreading capability in the viral encoded polymerase, they emerge genetically diverse. There has been no molecular surveillance data to describe the epidemiology of GCOVs in avian species. The present study was conducted to detect GC...

Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is one of the most important viral pathogens of cattle worldwide. The aim of present study was to determine the molecular characterization and phylogenetic analysis of BVDV infection in dairy herds of Fars province, Iran. For initial screening, a total of 400 blood samples were collected from 12 industrial dairy herds with previous history of diarrhea, abortio...
متن کاملMolecular Characterization and Phylogenetic Analysis of the G6 and G10 Genotypes of Bovine Rotaviruses from Iran
Background and Aims: Rotaviruses are the main cause of gastroenteritis in the young of human and a variety of animals in the world. Rotavirus G6 and G10 are the most prevalent genotypes in cattle worldwide, but are also found in human with possible origination from animals. Materials and Methods: In this work, we have detected the G6 and G10 genotypes of bovine rotaviruses isolated from di...
متن کاملMolecular detection and characterization of beak and feather disease virus in psittacine birds in Tehran, Iran
Beak and feather disease virus (BFDV), a member of genus circovirus, is a small, non-enveloped, single stranded DNA virus. Although BFDVs are among the most well studied circoviruses, there is little to no information about BFDVs in Iran. The aim of the present study was to detect and identify BFDV molecules from the birds referred to the avian clinic of The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Tehr...

In order to develop a method for detecting and identification of Theileria annulata, the specific primers from the major merozoite-piroplasm surface antigen sequence of Theileria (Tams1) were used to detect the T. annulata by nested-PCR technique. The assay provides a valuable tool for the identification of Theileria annulata directly from clinical samples and enables determination of the infec...
